Te Aorerekura – New Zealand’s National Strategy to Eliminate Family Violence and Sexual Violence calls for professionals who are likely to work with people impacted by violence, to have the knowledge and skills to recognise violence, intervene early, and connect people with specialist support.
This workshop offers a space to build knowledge and practical confidence while reflecting critically on how we, as practitioners, can contribute to safer responses to domestic violence.
Presented by Jasmine Gilespie-Gray, clinical psychologist with a special interest in attachment, trauma, and interpersonal and systemic violence born out of her own lived experience and working clinically in child and adolescence mental health services. Jasmine’s doctoral research explored women’s experiences of domestic and sexual violence (and animal abuse).
In keeping with the Jasmine’s ethos of non-violence, sustainably sourced vegan food will be offered, and donations will be made to Te Whare Tiaki Whāhine Refuge and Pet Refuge.
