New Zealand suicide death rates peaked in 2019, reaching an historic low in 2022. Health providers often feel ill-equipped to identify and treat suicide risk. Individuals who attend this workshop will develop skills for screening and assessing suicide risk, identifying level of risk, managing risk and planning for safety and ongoing care.
PRESENTER: JOSEPHINE RIDLEY, PHD
Dr. Josephine Ridley is a licensed clinical psychologist and suicidologist. With over 35 years of clinical practice and research experience, she conducts research and has published in peer reviewed journals and book chapters in the areas of mood disorders, depression, and suicide. She is Co-Editor for the international British Journal of Guidance and Counselling, Adjunct Associate Professor in the Department of Psychological Sciences at Case Western Reserve University, Assistant Chief of Psychology Service at the VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System, Owner of Ridley Behavioral Health, LLC private practice, Consultant for the Ohio Suicide Prevention Foundation, and Lead Trainer for the Zero Suicide Institute's Assessing and Managing Suicide Risk Workshop. She has presented at conferences and workshops in the U.S and internationally
