Due to the recent sharp increase in knowledge about autism and ADHD, more and more practitioners are seeing neurodivergent clients in their practice. It is no longer the case that we can refer to specialists, our autistic and ADHD clients need practitioners who can adapt their practice to be autism- and ADHD-friendly. The new paradigm, neurodiversity-affirming practice, has brought significant changes to how neurodivergence is understood, discussed, and researched. Recent research highlights the benefits of being neurodiversity-affirming in healthcare settings. In this course we share current best practice guidelines for autism and ADHD that align with fostering an inclusive, evidence-based, and neuroaffirming approach to the care of these children, teenagers and adults.
