This workshop is designed for psychologists who are new to AI and want to understand its emerging role in healthcare. We’ll explore key considerations for safe and ethical use, including issues of bias, privacy, and trust, alongside real-world examples of how AI is currently being used in New Zealand health services. Through practical discussions and interactive sessions, participants will gain an understanding of AI in clinical contexts and feel more confident engaging with AI-enabled tools in their practice. The workshop will also provide an overview of the NZ guidelines and policies relevant to Ai in practice including the Psychologists Board Guidelines for the use of AI in Psychology in Aotearoa New Zealand.


Presenter: Associate Professor Rosie Dobson 

Associate Professor Rosie Dobson (PhD; Waipapa Taumata Rau | University of Auckland and Te Whatu Ora | Health New Zealand) is a Psychologist and Researcher at the University of Auckland and Principal Advisor AI Research and Evaluation at Te Whatu Ora. She has 10+ years experience leading digital health research, including consumer views of the use of health information for AI development and the use of AI in healthcare. She is a member of the National AI and Algorithm Expert Advisory Group for Te Whatu Ora, the establishment lead for the National AI in Health Research Network, and the AI Health Research Lead for the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences at the UoA.
