Posttraumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) is one of the most common and comorbid mental health disorders. Fortunately, effective evidence-based psychotherapies exist for treating these conditions. This workshop will include and overview of two evidence-based treatments co-developed by Dr. Monson that emphasize cognitive interventions to process traumatic events. Cognitive Processing Therapy is a first-line therapy in current treatment guidelines world-wide, recommended for individuals affected by trauma. Cognitive-Behavioral Conjoint Therapy for PTSD is designed to improve PTSD symptoms and enhance relationship functioning. Dr. Monson will give an overview of both interventions, and also show video clips of actual patients to illustrate key interventions involved in each therapy.
